Audio Ministry

The purpose of the Audio Visual Ministry is to help lift of the name of Jesus, by using audio and visual equipment and to help the lost and encourage the saved by using modern technology to reach the masses. We will begin live streaming during Sunday services, 11:00am this year. We also offer previous sermons by Dr. Juan M. Brown, via podcasting which are available via our website and smart phone devices. (Philippians 3:8-11)

Children’s Ministry

We have been entrusted with the duty of “training up” our children in the way that they should go (Proverbs 22:6). The mission of the ministry is to teach them to love God’s Commandments (Deuteronomy 6:7) and help lead them to salvation. (Joel 2:32, Acts 2:21 & Romans 10:13) Jesus told his disciples to “Let the children come unto me.” We are also allowing our children to be blessed by God in a safe and Spirit filled church environment as we learn from them and train them in the ways of God’s church.

Ministry Leader: Minister Tammy James

Praise Arts Ministry

Our vessels of Worship is an expressions ministry that uses all forms of the worship arts to praise and worship God. We are made up of 7 ministry divisions: children, juniors, youth, adults, flags, urban dance, mime, and more. Our scripture has changed over the years and is currently 1 Corinthians 10:31, which emphasizes to give God glory in all things. The purpose of the ministry is to utilize various forms of dance and expressions to draw God’s people closer to him through our actions. We focus on dance technique as well as free style and interpretive dance in order to teach foundation as well as the importance of holy living and dancing under God’s anointing. We learn the biblical meaning behind each song, require scripture memorization, fasting and prayer as key tools to grow the ministry spiritually.

Ministry Leader: Sister Caprice Stokes

Deacon/Deaconess Ministry

Acts 6:1-7 addresses the origin of the office of the deacon and individuals serving in this capacity. They should do so in keeping with the tenets ascribed in 1st Timothy 3:8-13, and at the pleasure of the Pastor. Overseeing the care of the congregation through Congregational Care Teams is a large part of the work of a deacon/deaconess. As they dispense their duties ministering to God’s people. The advice and comfort administered must be biblically and doctrinally sound.

Ministry Leader: Deacon Charles McClelland & Nina Cunningham

Evangelism

A ministry of disciples that most exemplifies the Great Commission. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Congregation: Congregation at Large

Men’s Ministry

Theme Scripture: Ezekiel 33:7 – So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.

Mission Statement: The Men’s Ministry is dedicated to helping men become the spiritual leaders that the Lord calls them to be. Accountability, bible study, fellowship, and prayer all contribute to the goal of this ministry, with a little help from the Holy Spirit. Meet with a small group of men to encourage and challenge each other to live a life passionate for Christ.

The Men’s Ministry is composed of sons, brothers, husbands, fathers, and grandfathers who love Christ and have a passion to become the man He wants us to be. We want to grow relationships with other men so we can help each other in our walk with Christ. It is about being REAL with each other. Our men’s ministry is dedicated to helping men to become Christ-like men.

Health Ministry

The mission of the Health Ministry is to bring awareness, assist individuals in need and those requesting information and education in the area of health. Ministry Scripture: (Galatians 6:2&10)

Music Ministry

The vision of the Music Ministry is to serve God in spirit and truth with excellence, to give God glory, in unity, to uplift God and encourage His people through praise, worship, celebration, warfare and prophetic hymns, songs and expressions of love & thankfulness; while emphasizing holy living as a key requirement for ministry servant-hood.

All music ministry members – In the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30), the amounts differed, but each slave was entrusted with something. The rewards were not based on how much they were given, but on what they did with what they were given. All music ministry members are to encourage one another. God has given us all different talents and if we come together in His name with the focus on Him, then His anointing can flow in us and through us as He uses us to minister to His people.

Ministry Director: Reverend Daryl Ferrell

Safety Ministry

The mission of the Safety Ministry is to greet, observe and report. To help protect people and property by being a male presence when the church is open for evening events and Sundays. We wear John 12:32 “If I be lifted up I’ll draw all men unto me.”

Ministry Leader: Brother Mack Henderson

RSVP Ministry

The Senior Saints Ministry is for members of Progressive who are sixty (60) years and older. The purpose of the RSVP Ministry is to honor those who have paved the way for the younger saints. The theme is “Victorious Living: Going Forward through Faith in Christ.”
Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.

13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:12-14)

Ministry Leader: Mothers Robbye Tucker & LeAnna Lucky

Usher Ministry

The Usher’s ministry has the blessed privilege and an opportunity to praise GOD through our service. We are tasked with keeping order in the church during each meeting with minimal disruption. We are to welcome parishioners and guests with the love of GOD shining through us. In addition, we consider it our responsibility to insure each person who enters the church is made comfortable and the environment is conducive for them to receive the uninterrupted Word of GOD and for them to praise Him. We also go before the Pastor and pulpit guests. We are doorkeepers. Our motto is “if every usher was just like me what would this Usher Board be.”
If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength GOD provides, so that in all things GOD may be praised through Jesus Christ (Peter 4:11) .

Ministry Leader: Brother Emmanuel Thomas

The Young Adult Ministry

The young adult ministry is a transition for those 18 to 27 years old from youth ministry into the adult population of the church. The primary Goal is to help young adults think, respond and govern themselves as adults through the teaching of the Bible. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. (1 Corinthians 13:11)

Ministry Director: Brother Elliot Utley, Jr.

Women’s Ministry

The PBC Women are committed to saving the lost and cultivating Christ-like maturity. To encourage complete holiness through gatherings designed especially for women. The Women’s ministry of PBC seeks to help educate, (mentally, physically, and spiritually), young women and girls in the areas of wholeness and holiness. As women of God, we will seek ways to minister to females, young and old, saved and unsaved. We will encourage complete holiness through gatherings designed especially for women. Women will be educated spiritually, physically and mentally through planned conferences, retreats, classes, etc. promoting health, mind and development. The Women of Progressive BC will be afforded opportunities to use their God-given gifts and talents, locally and nationally.
Our Vision Statement: “To minister to the “Total Woman.”

Ministry Leader: Minister Vanessa Ferrell

Missions Ministry

The Missions Ministry exists as a way for members of Progressive BC to fulfill the church’s calling to missions. There are two parts of this calling: Evangelism, which is sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our immediate context, and Missions, which is sharing the Gospel outside our immediate context.

Our strategy for spreading the gospel and helping the least, the lost and left out is as follows:

1. Education – Focuses Progressive BC on how to fulfill God’s mission and opportunities for mission involvement (evangelism training, mission training, mission videos, mission communications in Sunday School, CARE, and more).

2. Emphases – Focuses Progressive BC on meeting felt needs. These emphases build credibility in order to share God’s message of love and redemption (Annual Food Drive, Feed the Children, Toys for Tots, Backpack Ministry and others).

3. Events – Focuses Progressive BC on opportunities to get involved personally in missions (local ministry and mission projects, Weldon House, disaster relief opportunities, mission trips, partnerships with churches and missionaries across the world, Adopt-a-Church, church planting, and more).

Ministry Leader: Mother Gloria Hilliard

Prayer Ministry

Welcome to Progressive BC Prayer Ministry. We would like to release you to change your world through the power of prayer. E.M. Bounds, perhaps the father of the modern prayer movement, wrote over a century ago, “God hears prayer, God heeds prayer, God answers prayer, and God delivers by prayer. These words cannot be spoken too often. Prayer breaks all bars, dissolves all chains, opens all prisons, and widens all straits by which God’s saints have been held.”

Please contact me if I can help you in your pursuit of God and His will through prayer. To submit a prayer request Click Here.

Our strategy church prayer plan is as follows:

Christian Education Ministry

Discipleship Ministry

Progressive Baptist Church seeks to develop disciples and disciple makers for Christ as mandated by Christ in Matthew 28:18-20. A disciple maker’s objective should be to work themselves out of a job by helping the disciple in all areas of their walk with Jesus Christ. The long-range goal is to build dependence on the Lord and not on the church. We seek to get people into the Word on their own, devoted to prayer, and engaged in the other disciplines of the Master; this is the scope of discipleship.

• Matt. 28:19-20 – “baptizing them . . . and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
• Col. 1:28-29 – “teaching everyone . . . so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.”
• Phil. 2:12 – “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed — not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence — continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you . . . ”
• 2 Tim. 2:2 – “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.”

Even Jesus did not stay with His disciples forever. Ultimately He ascended to heaven.
Following Jesus’ instructions and example, the disciple maker will accomplish this objective by:

1. seeking them out
Matt. 28:19 says “go and make disciples.”
2. sharing the Word
Matt. 28:19 – To “make disciples” in the Greek means to teach.
3. supplication
Jn. 17 – Jesus prayed for His disciples.
4. supporting
Jn. 15:11; 16:33 – Jesus told them certain things to encourage them.
5. showing
Jn. 13:15 – “I have set you an example that you should do as
 I have done for you.”
6. spurring them on
 Matt. 5:21-22, 27-28, 31-32, 33-34, 38-39, 43-44 – Jesus took His
disciples to higher levels . . . He said, “You have heard it said but
 I tell you . . .”
Classes are Sunday 8:30 to 9:30am
